Why is the hood non-detachable? Is it inconvenient?

Non-detachable design ensures better windproof and waterproof integrity—fewer seams means less rain ingress through zipper gaps. The hood can be cinched tight via drawstring when needed, or folded flat behind the collar when not—no restriction on movement.

Where are all 8 pockets located? Is it overkill?

With a base layer (quick-dry thermal) + mid-layer (fleece or light down), it suits -5°C to 5°C for active pursuits (hiking, skiing). For static activities or lower temperatures, add a heavier mid-layer or hardshell over it.
